About Us

OUR SERVICES

Routine Exams

During your dental exam, the dentist or hygienist will clean your teeth and check for cavities and gum disease. We will also evaluate your risk of developing other oral health problems, as well as check your face, neck and mouth for abnormalities. A dental exam might also include dental X-rays (radiographs) or other diagnostic procedures.

Crowns and Bridges

As we get older, our teeth don't flex like they used to and can become more prone to fracturing or breaking.  In addition to age, things such as bruxism (tooth grinding), large or fractured fillings, decay, and root canals can further weaken the tooth.  In these cases, a crown may be the best restoration to provide the most long term stability for the tooth.

In many cases your crown can be made in one appointment with the use of our CEREC machine, which uses CAD/CAM technology to make your custom crown.  A digital image of your prepared tooth is transmitted to our milling unit where your new crown is milled right before your eyes out of a solid block of durable porcelain.

In some instances, a lab fabricated crown is necessary.  An impression is made of your prepared tooth which is then sent to our local laboratory.  We then fabricate a temporary crown which allows for normal function until the second appointment several weeks later when your permanent crown is cemented into place.

Bridges are natural-looking dental restorations that can replace one or multiple missing teeth.  The teeth on either side of the space are prepared for crowns which serve as the abutments for the bridge and will hold the "pontic" that replaces your missing tooth or teeth.  Bridges are made from metal alloys and/or porcelain to ensure that they are strong yet very aesthetic.

Teeth Whitening

Whitening is a procedure that removes deep stains and discolorations from your teeth.  We offer two whitening systems at our office.

Custom Whitening Trays: Following impressions, molds of your teeth are made allowing us to fabricate customized trays that comfortably fit your teeth.  Bleaching gel is then injected into the trays which can then be worn for a determined period of time.

Trés White System: Newest to the Opalescence product line is Opalescence Treswhite Supreme. Its technology greatly simplifies the tooth-whitening process by using pre-filled, disposable trays ready to use without the need for impressions, molding, or laboratory time.ragraph. Veneers

A veneer is a thin layer of either composite or porcelain that is bonded to the tooth's surface.  Veneers are an excellent way to change the look of your smile and allow us to address problems such as unwanted spaces between teeth, broken or chipped teeth, permanently stained or discolored teeth, or crooked or misshapen teeth.  Veneers can greatly improve one's smile with minimal tooth preparation.  The teeth are prepared by removing surface enamel about the width of a fingernail to allow room for the veneer layer.

Dentures

We use the highest quality materials to ensure that your full or partial denture looks natural and functions well.  We are experienced in making conventional dentures as well as immediate dentures.  When making immediate dentures, measurements are taken and the dentures are made prior to tooth removal.  The dentures are placed in your mouth the day your teeth are removed so no time is spent without teeth.  Follow-up visits are required so your denture can be relined after healing has occurred.

Root Canal

"Root canal" has become a scary term for dental patients to hear, but advances in dental technology have made it not so scary! Local anesthetics and proper pain medication allow the procedure to be virtually painless.

Both Dr. Lee and Dr. Jaime are trained to perform endodontic treatment. For difficult root canals you may be referred to a root canal specialist.

Emergency Dentistry

There are many reasons that your may need emergency dental appointment.  Broken teeth, severe pain... We have found that a dental emergency can strike at any time. Dr. Lee and Dr. Jaime and our staff at Swearingen Dental will try to accommodate any last minute appointment requests so that you don't have to live with oral pain or the fear of major mouth injury. If you have a toothache or a major dental emergency, call (330) 385-4126. We offer extended hours and will do our best to get you treated immediately

Sedation

There is no need to fear going to the dentist.  We strive to make each visit as low stress as possible and offer both nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas” or “happy gas," that reduces pain and induces a pleasurable feeling and oral sedation, that helps most patients sleep through the procedure and remember little if anything about the appointment.
